Poached

A morning at Poached

Same shop,
new chapter.

Poached opened in 2017 with one idea — bring proper brunch and speciality coffee to Beckenham. Two shops later, the kitchen still makes most of it by hand.

Owner & founder

Luke.

Luke started Poached in a tiny shop on Beckenham High Street in 2017, after years of working in restaurants and missing a proper flat white near home. Junto came first, East Street came when the room above the old florist opened up.

He's behind the bar most mornings, picks the beans every fortnight, and runs a small consultancy on the side helping other cafés open up. Five openings in.

A short history

How we got here.

  1. 2017

    The first shop opens.

A tiny room on Beckenham High Street, eight covers, one espresso machine.

  2. 2019

    The bagels arrive.

A trip to New York, an obsession with proper boiled-and-baked bagels, a new menu.

  3. 2021

    East Street, Bromley.

A bigger room, a quieter back, filter on tap.

  4. 2024

    Junto rebrand.

The original shop becomes Junto — same room, sharper identity, pink-tile counter.
